A magical journey through time, walking in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Southern Spain
Let Fiona and Paul provide a refreshing and renewing experience, sharing with you their knowledge, love and fascination for this part of Spain - La Alpujarra in Andalucia. To walk with them is to make a journey back in time, following old Moorish trade routes and ancient drovers' roads, where herds of sheep are still taken to the high pastures of the Sierra Nevada.
Fiona
and Paul will take you on a series of spectacular
walks that are as varied as the terrain, which stretches
from
Mediterranean to Alpine climate.
Following the ancient irrigation channels (Acequias) and dramatic terraces typical of the region, threading through the mazes of alleys in picturesque whitewashed villages and crossing the soaring mountainsides to discover secret hidden valleys.
You will find places, rare plants and animals that the casual tourist never sees, and glimpse a life which has changed litle over the last few centuries. Surrounded by the stunning scenery, we hope you will have a truly inspiring visit.
Arrive in the local market town of Orgiva on Saturday and join the rest of the group (up to 10 in number). From here you will be met and transported by Landrover to the start point of your holiday.
Everything will be ready to help you unwind with a hot meal and local wine.
The emphasis is on enjoyment and relaxation: this is a holiday, not a route march.

Participants
of any age from twelve are welcome.
Some of our walks are quite strenuous, therefore it must be stressed that to enjoy a holiday with us you must be in good shape BEFORE you arrive, and preferably have some experience of hill walking.
A good pair of comfortable, familiar boots are essential to avoid blisters. Not to scare you off, however, the pace is uncompetitive and any normally fit person can cope.
