Particular attention will be given to breathing, to the work of gravity, and to the releasing of unnecessary and unhelpful muscle contraction and tension through breathing techniques and postures.

Amy’s style of teaching is precise but flowing, fun yet structured. With an emphasis in releasing blocked energy and restoring the body’s natural ability to enjoy and recuperate.

This course is suitable if you are a complete beginning in yoga or a teacher with many years experience and anywhere in between having the golden opportunity to spend some quality with yourself and take some time out of your busy life.

Flowing Yoga and Pilates

Alessandra Margarito

This is a week devoted to improving core strength and body alignment. There will be a Flowing Yoga class in the morning and a Pilates class in the afternoon.

Alessandra is an intuitive yoga teacher who is experienced at guiding students of all levels though the fundamental steps of their yoga practice. Her clear teaching approach is strongly influenced by studies of anatomy giving her an understanding of how to ease bodies of all shapes and sizes into a comfortable beneficial practice.

The morning Yoga class will be based on the precision and breath work of Hatha Yoga with emphasis on flow, to create an uplifting, yet grounding practise. We will work in a progressive manner throughout the week, building a foundation for a strong integral practice exploring both classical and creatively sequenced sun salutations. We will be using the awareness of the breath to aid movement and use movement as a focus for relaxation and will finish the morning practise with some restorative yoga.

The early evening class will be a creatively adapted Pilates matwork session, drawing from both the classical and the evolved repertoire, with emphasis given to moving to the rhythm of the breath. Over the week we will be exploring a series of sequences which will tone and strengthen the whole body thus perfectly complimenting the morning yoga practice.

Alessandra's creative approach to body alignment will benefit anybody who wishes to experience greater energy, dynamic relaxation and a sense of freedom in movement.

Alessandra enjoys teaching at all levels and runs workshops and retreats all over the world as well as running her own Yoga and Pilates studio in London.

Dynamic  Yoga

Sasha Norton

Dynamic Yoga with Sasha Norton

Sasha Norton views the practices of asana and pranayama as a preparation for the deeper practices of concentration and meditation. Yoga is a systematic training of the physical body, breath, senses and mind in attempt to achieve spiritual union and self-realization.

Although this may not be the aim of every practitioner ('and indeed was never my intention when I first turned to yoga for stress relief'), the techniques and methods are also effective in relieving physical and mental tension and encouraging a greater sense of well-being. Strength, flexibility and stamina are welcome by-products.

Sacha's preference is for a dynamic, physically challenging style of asana practice leading to a deeper state of relaxation and preparation for meditation. However, this is carefully balanced with the students' own needs and abilities and classes are constructed in an organic way to meet these needs.

Where possible, the following elements are covered in each session: sun salutations, (flowing) standing postures, balances, core stability, backbends, twists, inversions, forward bends, savasana (relaxation) and pranayama (breath work).

A variety of postures and techniques are used as appropriate, with modifications as necessary to suit individuals.

Classes are not suitable for pregnant ladies.

Hatha Yoga

Jackie Coulson

Hatha Yoga with Jackie Coulson

Jackie has studied many forms of Yoga over the last 12 years, including Hatha, Iyengar, Vajrasati, Astanga, Sivananda & Scaravelli.

She holds teaching certificates in Hatha and Vajrasati Yoga and is Yoga Alliance 500hr accredited. She has taken great joy from inspiring her students in Brighton for the last 4 years. Jackie's teaching style is creative and fluid, partly due to her broad inspiration across disciplines.

Her Vajrasati training helps bring in a meditative feel to her Hatha flowing practise, incorporating the core principles of Sthira Sukham (finding the balance between strength or effort and ease) as well as an emphasis on postural awareness. Jackie's interest in the body also took her to India to study Yogic massage.

The morning classes will have a fluid, playful nature, incorporating some gentle sequences, flowing through postures with deep breath awareness, to invigorate the body and mind.

The evening practise will generally be more restorative and meditative. Even when the practise is challenging it will be deeply relaxing. We will also be exploring Pranayama (breathing techniques) and simple Mantra (chanting).

Jackie is known for her nurturing and supportive style that welcomes all abilities.

Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Celest Pereira

A professionally trained dancer and marital artist, with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy; Celest is a yoga teacher with true depth of knowledge and awareness on the body, how it works and what it can do.

Her love for yoga started ten years ago in London and this love for yoga took her on a journey to India, the spiritual home of yoga, seeking to really understand the philosophy and history of this great discipline and art form.

Celest describes yoga as a 'living art' because in her eyes it keeps changing and transforming itself, adapting to the environment and the challenges the practitioners face.

Her teaching aims to deepen intensify her student's understanding of, not only their body; but the nature of their minds as well; always using the breath to bridge the gap between the two. Her passion is working with city professionals; giving them the tools that they need to lead increasingly healthy and balanced lives.

Stemming from her dance background, Celest teaches a Dynamic Vinyasa Flow class that links the asanas (poses) together into a challenging but therapeutic practice.

Interspersed throughout the hour and half practice, she breaks down advanced asanas to suit the individual, always mindful of each student's capabilities, while motivating them to advance beyond their preconceived beliefs of what they thought they were capable of.

It's this approach and Celest's unique personality which has led to the same students learning from her over the last 7 years

Dynamic Vinyasa Yoga

Beth Win

Dynamic Vinyasa Yoga with Beth Win

Beth 'UrbanYogaMonkey' would like to present the opportunity to go deeper! for longer!
More time to explore, let go and move towards a relaxed, centred, flexible and liberated YOU

"UrbanYogamonks" is an expression of the Yogamonks Method, which Beth has practiced for nearly 10 years. Because the 'how' of learning directly affects the 'what'  a playful humorousness and lightness underlies every session.

In learning with the openness and curiosity of a child we engage with a sense active interest without strain or effort. In this way the body opens up and speaks through sensation teaching us yoga!

Our 'active interest' awakens spontaneous states of yoga within every action and between every action. Daily practice on my retreats mean the tools for transformation and long lasting change are offered on a plate. Expect a dynamic, challenging, playful, precise yet deeply relaxing and centering practice.

All levels are welcomed with a simply curiosity, interest and willingness to move away from that which restricts towards that which liberates beyond all conditionality.

About Beth
I began exploring the physical and emotional through movement aged 4 and continued via dance, and martial arts to professional level aged 25. I also studied psychology with particular focus on learning and behavioural patterns. The inter-relatedness of all things has always held my fascination with yoga being a vehicle in which to explore them all with a scientific like objectivity.
I use the Yogamonks Method to stimulate the muscle of awareness as its this awareness that reveals the connections to our conditionality and more importantly, to our hearts.

When Yoga awakens the heart, the awakened heart can move with gentleness, clarity and openess throughout ones entire being, where one can experience lightness, joy and the present moment.

Flowing Hatha Yoga

Ali Gilling

Flowing Hatha Yoga with Ali Gilling

Yoga is my passion. It has become a huge part of my life. My search began in India 18 years ago where I lived for two years studying with my yoga teacher on a 1 to 1 basis. I became so inspired I continued exploring different styles of yoga around the globe... Qualifying as a Sivananda teacher in 1998, followed by a 10 days silent meditation retreat (Vipassana).

Being inspired by my many teachers, my classes focus on flowing creative sequences of gentle yet dynamic yoga, synchronizing breath (pranayama) and body (asana) together.

Fusing a mix of my different styles of yoga and dance background offers an inspiring blend of strength and flexibility, power and ease. This allows the student to go deeper into the practice depending on the ability sometimes weaving in visualisation and meditation.

Recently I have facilitated ‘Visualisation and Goal Setting’ sessions for the senior division of the Metropolitian Police. Twice a year I teach on yoga holidays in Egypt, India, Ibiza and Morocco and run 1 day workshops.

I also work as a massage therapist at the NHS trust, Dorchester and Hilton hotel. I have worked with Adult Education, Women’s Refuge, Mental Health.
