Information on the Teachers

Ken Eyerman twenty five years of experience in Bodywork and Movement is brought to this week, combining a unique blend of dynamic flowing Yoga with gentle inner sensing and Feldenkrais movement awareness lessons.

His intuitive and spontaneous approach places an emphasis on using the breath, an awareness of your inner process and how you use your body.

This will gently ease you into the postures and is suitable for all levels.

Author of the book 'Massage', Ken teaches internationally and directs a training programme in Bodywork and Movement in London based on his life long study of The Feldenkrais Method.

Morning classes will begin gradually, easing us into the new day, slowly warming our bodies as we progress into a Vinyasa based class with sun salutations and a large range of postures. Throughout the class we will keep our awareness on how our body moves.

Afternoon classes will explore movements and lessons from the morning in more depth, with greater emphasis on the Feldenkrais aspects of the class.

Ken is one of Free Spirit Travel's most popular teachers and always great fun to be with. He is also a great favourite with the Free Spirit staff and Jilly from the office is seizing the opportunity and will be on this holiday with you. She has attended many of Ken's classes and will happily answer any questions you may have.

Jim Tarran attended his first Hatha yoga sessions in 1990 and began teaching on a small scale in 1991. In 1992 he travelled to India and whilst in Nepal completed a teacher training at the Patanjali Yoga centre.

One year later he began running classes in Byron Bay Australia. Returning to England in 1994 he began his Iyengar teacher training, successfully graduating in 1996.

Jim’s style of teaching has continued to deepen informed by his practice of Buddhism and his desire to vitalize and inspire his own practice. Jim uses the tools of Yoga to fund a sense of engagement of life itself. “The form reveals the meaning” he says “and the meaning develops the form.” In so doing he has found more and more kinship with the whole breadth of the Yoga tradition.

Jim runs "drop-ins", courses and days in the Brighton area and his popular classes are known for their humour, humanity and depth. He also runs a teacher training program on which students are taught all the prerequisites of safe and well-informed Asana, mantra, Pranayama and meditation.
