Yoga Holidays in Sri Lanka - paradise and pleasure

Enjoy 14 Days of Yoga and Ayurvedic treatments in
this magical eco resort

Imagine a place so beautiful that at night it is lit with two hundred flaming torches; a place where the paths are constantly swept so that you may walk around with bare feet.

Where, by choice, there is no electricity and therefore no phones to disturb the peace.

Where Ayurvedic massages and treatments are included in the price of the holiday along with the yoga classes.

A place where you can get in touch once more with the natural rhythms of your body and soul, where the organic food is exquisite and the atmosphere more than you could imagine - this is Ulpotha!

Ulpotha is a complete world within itself, far removed from the stresses of modern life.

Possibly the best eco resort in the world, here life is near perfect, the attention to detail is amazing and the vegetarian food is delicious..

The village is funded by the East Pole Foundation, a loosely knit, non-profit group whose primary aim is to nurture the values of traditional village life.

The focus at Ulpotha is on bio-diverse organic farming and reforestation together with the restoration - through practice - of an ageless agricultural way of life. The long term goal of the founders is to promote these activities throughout the watershed below Ulpotha, while continuing to live in an unhurried and relaxed manner in harmony with nature.

Fully inclusive of optional yoga classes, Ayurvedic treatments and one massage each week.

Swim in the lake surrounded by the mountains, sunbathe in the hammocks, listen to the sounds of the jungle as you relax and unwind in a world far away from city life. On arrival you will be given a sarong - and your holiday will begin.

Open only twice a year for eight week periods, this is the holiday of a lifetime.

On arrival you will be given a sarong so you can be part of the village - and your holiday will begin.

The location and climate of Ulpotha is near perfect, never too hot, never too cold, never too wet and never too dry - the four fold conditions required for healthy living according to the ancient discipline of long life, ayurveda.

Ulpotha is refreshed by cool and near constant breezes, luxuries in themselves.

Food is vegetarian and delicious, with rich indigenous red rice as the staple.

It is prepared from the vegetables, yams and melons which fill the sanctuary's organic garden, along with mature bananas, mango, jack and bread fruit trees.

Each day there are two classes of yoga which you may choose to attend. Ayurvedic treatments and massages are available and included in the price of your holiday.

The atmosphere here is of a houseparty and you will feel like, and be, very welcome guests of Giles and Viren, your hosts.

In keeping with this, apart from the yoga, there is no set itinerary - rather the guests themselves decide on what they would like to do, which sites they may want to visit and how the weeks will be.

Time drifts by in a truly relaxing way, as you gradually get back in touch with life's natural rhythms, spending your days swimming, sunbathing, eating delicious food and generally having fun!
