focus and still your mind, feel stillness and relaxation

This unique course is probably the first of its kind, in the world. Led by two experts in their field, Barbara Gordon & Monica Farrell, the week will give you an introduction to yoga and diving with a yogic approach to the latter. It is suitable for everybody - PADI divers, experienced yoga practitioners and beginners in both fields.

The holiday takes place at Reef 2000 Dive Club in Dahab, South.Sinai which is part of  Egypt.

Reef 2000 is located right on the Red Sea coastline in the Bedouin Moon hotel (right) where you will be staying.

Yoga diving removes stress and encourages a freedom from thought.

The Diving: led by Monica Farrell (also pictured above)

Using both yoga and meditation techniques we will enter the aquatic world of diving, breathing underwater, experiencing the weightless state of buoyancy and discovering how other body-mind awareness and sensations can enhance ones’ meditation practice and inner quietude.

The study of scuba diving from a holistic, yogic framework becomes part of ones’ personal journey inward an intimate connection with nature.

Monica is also a fully qualified Sivananda yoga teacher

The Yoga: led by Barbara Gordon

“Having taught yoga in Dahab since 1997, although not a diver I soon realised the connection between yoga and diving and I could see how the two could very easily marry. Yoga has been my life’s work and it is very exciting to join these two activities together.”

Barbara teaches Sivananda yoga and it was her friendship with Monica Farrell that led to the Yogic Diving workshop. Barbara spends each winter in Dahab except for the few weeks when she is in India leading a Yoga Teacher Training programme - during these times Monica will lead the yoga classes.

Barbara is also a trained psychotherapist and masseuse.

The course includes:

  • 6 yoga classes, including asanas, pranayama, meditation and visualisation technique.

  • Dive Theory and planning.

  • Shallow water skills practice and application of breathing, asana and meditation work under water.

  • Open water naturalist dives and observation/study of relationships in the sea.

  • At least 9 scuba dives as well as Free Diving practice.

  • Desert dinner/meditation.

  • All yoga and diving and diving equipment. (New divers $35.00 for PADI certificate)

This holiday is suitable for both certified divers who would like to improve their diving level (obtain a higher PADI or technical diving licence) embedded in a yoga framework, as well as for practitioners of yoga and meditation who wish to discover diving whilst developing their own yoga practice.

It is equally available for people who have no previous experience of yoga and or diving.

Please note that you must complete a PADI medical form before taking this course as there are some medical conditions that prevent you from diving. We can email you a copy of this form if you wish. Send your request to info@freespirituk.com and type PADI Medical form in the subject line.
