I awaken to the clear air and sunshine of another day in Ulpotha and lay in bed listening to the sound of the monkeys and birds playing in the trees.

Decide to attend the yoga class, so grab my mat and make my
way to the yoga hut where I enjoy the dynamic morning session.
Straight after this I head for refreshments in the tea hut where I gulp down a glass of fresh coconut juice, trying to decide whether to be healthy and have a freshly picked banana, or whether to indulge in one of the beautifully prepared snacks that constantly seem to arrive. Decide to partake of both and also a hot tea. |

| Slowly make my way back to my hut where I collect my towel
and take a 'bush shower'. Chat a bit to my room-mate and then head off for a
swim in the lake followed by a bit of energetic sunbathing and book reading.
Pass the rest of the morning this way and then slip on my sarong and make my way to the ambalama to partake of yet another delicious vegetarian lunch.

During lunch I book myself a massage for the next day,
arrange to join some of the other guests on a sight seeing trip and discover
that the tailor is coming later that day and will be available to take orders.
Big question now is what to order - anything seems possible, even a bag to transport my yoga mat. Whilst considering the options I make a decision to go to the native treatment centre and take an Ayurvedic steam bath followed by a hot oil treatment. |
![]() This must be paradise. I am now so fully relaxed that even the idea of a swim seems too much and so I return to my hut for a rest (!) and later wander down to the late afternoon yoga and meditation. Follow this with a shower and a bit of exploring around the lake. As evening approaches the lamps are lit around the village and we gather again for yet another delicious meal in ambalama and much chatting and laughter. |

Giles suggests that we get up early the next morning to see the sunrise from 'sunset' rock - which seems bit of a contradiction in words and also a great idea as the views from this point are fantastic. Fully enrolled I decide an early night is in order.......... |
