Yoga Holiday in La Gomera, Canary Islands

Golden Buddha Yoga Resort, a superb setting, timeless natural beauty combined with balmy solitude and miles of unspoilt beach.

The only things on this remote island aside from this eco-resort, are two small fishing villages a long walk away, monkeys, birds and a marine turtle research and protection project; there is 10km of pristine, deserted beach.

In Thailand's Andaman Sea, just a few kilometres from Burmese waters, there is a small coastal archipelago. The largest of the islands is Koh Phra Thong, which translates as Golden Buddha Island. With over 10 kilometres of pristine beach to comb, Golden Buddha Beach is both the resort's name and its nature.

This resort is in a world class setting - a narrow peninsula jutting into the Andaman Sea with a cove on one side and an endless sweep of golden beach on the other side.

An almost deserted, 11-kilometer beach is practically at the doorstep of your private bungalow, which is located on a large, tree-covered lot, thus ensuring you quietness and privacy.

This is the only resort on this pristine island, which until quite recently harboured sea gypsies and pirates. It is an ideal launching point for exploring the marine life and islands of the Andaman Sea, and is located near Kuraburi, about two hours north of Phuket.

Your day: Besides your twice daily yoga classes there will be ample time for exploring, swimming, and relaxation. If you are feeling active then diving, kayaking, jungle exploration are all offered -  click here for excursion, diving and safari information

Massage: no vacation in Thailand is complete without enjoying a Thai massage. Our fully trained staff offers a selection of massages that can be enjoyed in your private resort home overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Traditional Thai massage is popular with our male guests who report that they feel like they have had a great workout. Our women guests generally prefer the soothing oil massage. You cannot have an opinion until you have tried both!

Yoga:

The tranquillity offered by the location allow Yoga to be practiced in a setting rarely available elsewhere.

The resort has a stunning open-sided yoga shala situated on the peninsula with the ocean on both sides; the roof and surrounding coconut foliage give protection from the sun.

Yoga is twice a day with the exception of any excursion days.

The platform is equipped with heavy duty sticky mats, belts, eye bags, blocks, and a pile of cotton Iyengar-like blankets so participants do not need to bring this cumbersome equipment from abroad unless they prefer - we do however recommend, for reasons of hygiene, that you bring your own mat if at all possible.

Fine Thai food at Golden Buddha Resort
Dining is a very important element of any vacation experience. With this in mind, every effort is made to ensure that the quality of our food is a set at a very high level with a focus on Thai dishes and locally sourced ingredients.

We take pride in the use of only fresh ingredients – no frozen food at Golden Buddha Beach Resort. Lunch and dinner are arranged as a buffet, offering a variety of dishes that include both fresh fish and vegetarian dishes. Breakfast is a la carte with a selection of Thai and Western choices.

In addition to our own coconuts and papayas, Golden Buddha Beach Resort is currently working with local communities to both grow and source organic produce from the island, for inclusion in our dishes.

Freshly baked cookies, coffees and teas are available from our bakery throughout the day. The fresh coffee is mainly sourced from highland plantations in Thailand. We offer an assortment of both locally produced and imported teas and bake all of our own bread on site from basic ingredients. Expect to see fresh pumpkin and whole wheat bread plus other creations from our chef Bo Bee
